NEWPORT, R.I. (AP)– 3 firemens were hurt fighting a significant fire at a just recently refurbished hotel in Newport, Rhode Island, fire authorities stated.

The fire at the Wayfinder Hotel was reported at about 8 p.m. Monday and teams stayed on the scene on Tuesday early morning.

Almost 100 firemens from several muncipalities reacted to the blaze and all visitors made it out securely, fire Chief Harp Donnelly IV informed The Newport Daily News.

The four-story hotel has almost 200 visitor spaces, according it its site.

The hurt firemens are anticipated to recuperate, Deputy Chief Mark Riding stated at the scene Tuesday.

” We had one firemen go through the flooring. He was saved by the team that was with him. We do not understand if it was from the heat or the water weight that was triggering collapses. As quickly as the firemen went through the flooring all business were taken out,” he stated.
