PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management positioned a restriction Friday on all outside fires at state camping areas, parks, and management locations.
The restriction works Saturday early morning, and consists of all campfires at camping areas and picnic locations. This comes as practically all locations in Rhode Island remain in severe dry spell conditions.
The restriction remains in action to the “unsafe danger of wildfires in Rhode Island,” according to the DEM. Nevertheless,” Campers at State
camping areas and management locations, in addition to State park clients, will be allowed to utilize portable gas cooking ranges and grills, melted or bottled fuels, and propane/liquid-fueled lanterns in designated locations.”
The DEM will continue to keep an eye on the conditions to figure out when the restriction can be raised.
