NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE)– The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management revealed Saturday that a Narragansett beach will be closed on the weekdays due to absence of staffing.

Environment authorities stated beginning Monday, Scarborough South State Beach will just be open on the weekends up until Labor Day.

The modification is because of, “a diminishing summer workforce with lifeguards, rangers, and center attendants going back to college and high school.”

Seasonal personnel will operate at Scarborough North to guarantee complete personnel protection.

All beach centers will close for the beach season the day after Sept. 5.

This isn’t brand-new, for a number of years DEM has actually closed Scarborough South on weekdays in late-August.
